Privacy Policy

How robtcase.com handles the information you share. Short, plain, and honest.

1. Who we are

This website is operated by The RC Group, a small holding company based on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. Rob T. Case is the founder and primary author. You can reach us at rob@robtcase.com for any privacy question or request.

This policy describes how we handle personal information under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable Canadian privacy law.

2. What we collect

We only collect what we need to deliver what you signed up for:

  • Email address when you subscribe to The Tuesday Briefing newsletter.
  • Contact information you send us if you email or reply to a newsletter, including your name and the context of your message.
  • Server logs (IP address, browser user agent, page requested, timestamp) maintained by our hosting provider, Kinsta, for security and operational purposes.

We use Google Tag Manager to load tracking tools on this site. As of the “Last updated” date above, the only analytics tool active is Google Analytics 4, which records anonymized page views, device type, approximate geographic location (derived from IP, with the IP itself anonymized by Google’s default settings), and how visitors arrived at the site. We do not load advertising or social-media tracking tags. If that changes, this policy will be updated within seven days.

3. How we use it

  • To send you the newsletter you subscribed to
  • To respond to inquiries you send us
  • To analyse aggregate newsletter engagement (open rates, click rates) to improve what we publish
  • To measure aggregate site traffic via Google Analytics 4 (which pages get read, which topics resonate). Data is reported in aggregate; we do not link analytics events to individual newsletter subscribers.
  • To comply with applicable law

We do not sell your information. We do not share it for marketing or advertising. We do not use it to train AI models.

4. Newsletter delivery

The Tuesday Briefing newsletter is delivered through Beehiiv, a third-party email service provider. When you subscribe, your email address is stored in our Beehiiv account. Beehiiv maintains its own privacy policy and is bound by its own data-protection commitments. Unsubscribing through any newsletter footer removes your email from active sends within 24 hours.

5. Who we share information with

  • Service providers who help us operate: Beehiiv (newsletter delivery), Kinsta (website hosting), Google Workspace (email), Google Analytics (aggregate site analytics), Google Tag Manager (analytics loader). Each is bound by its own privacy commitments.
  • Authorities when required by law (court order, subpoena, regulatory request).

We do not sell your information, do not share it with advertisers or data brokers, and do not use it for partner mailings.

6. International transfers

Some of our service providers store data outside Canada, including in the United States. When this happens, your information may become subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We choose providers with reasonable privacy and security practices.

7. How long we keep it

Newsletter emails are retained as long as you are subscribed, plus 30 days after unsubscribe (to honour the unsubscribe and respond to any related issue). One-off inquiries are retained for up to twelve months. Engagement records, if you become a client of one of our ventures, are retained for seven years for accounting and tax purposes, then deleted.

8. Your rights

Under PIPEDA, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Withdraw consent for ongoing use (subject to legal and contractual constraints)
  • Request deletion of information no longer needed
  • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada

To exercise any of these, email rob@robtcase.com. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Security

We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures to protect information: TLS for data in transit, access controls, and reputable hosting infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure. If we ever discover a breach affecting your information, we will notify you and the relevant regulator as required by law.

10. Cookies

This website uses essential cookies set by our hosting provider for security and load balancing. We also load Google Analytics 4 through Google Tag Manager. The GTM container itself does not set cookies. GA4 sets the following cookies in your browser as of the “Last updated” date above:

  • _ga: distinguishes unique visitors. Retained up to two years.
  • _ga_[ID]: persists session state for our GA4 property. Retained up to two years.

These cookies record page views, device type, approximate geographic region (derived from IP address with the IP itself anonymized by Google’s default settings), and referring source. They do not collect your name, email, or any directly identifying information.

To opt out, install Google’s Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on, or block the _ga* cookies through your browser settings, or use a browser with anti-tracking enabled by default.

If we add additional tracking tools through GTM in the future (for example, LinkedIn Insight, Meta Pixel, or Google Ads conversion tracking), this section will be updated to disclose each tool, the cookies it sets, and the opt-out path before those tools are activated.

11. Children

This site is intended for adults working in business contexts. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the age of 18.

12. Changes

We may update this policy as the site evolves or as the law changes. The “Last updated” date at the top of the page reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be highlighted in a notice on this page.
